Mooters are a specialised breed of optimists who believe that a train will come, that it will go, that it will keep going, that it will pause only where it is supposed to, that it will eventually stop where they expect it to, that it will do so within their working lifetime, that there will be seats to sit upon, that there will be heat in winter and ventilation in summer, that its windows will be translucent, that working light bulbs will be provided during the hours of darkness, that doors will open and close, that platforms will extend to greet them, and that any messages to the contrary will be capable of, not open to, interpretation

This breed is known for its patient gentle nature, but has been known to utter audible harrumphs in adverse situations
